Report: Ellen DeGeneres Quietly Sells Malibu Home
Well that was fast.
Real Estalker reports that less than a year after buying Brad Pitt’s Malibu home, Ellen DeGeneres and wife, Portia de Rossi, sold their home quietly in June 2012. According to property records, the sale went through on June 15 for $13 million.
DeGeneres bought the cliffside home in December 2011 for $12 million, and due to the frenzy of real estate reporting, chose to market it quietly when she decided to sell.
Moving from home to home is not a new habit for DeGeneres. A self-described real estate junkie, DeGeneres has owned several Los Angeles-area homes and only sold her custom estate in May to Ryan Seacrest.
DeGeneres and de Rossi’s home seemed like a step down for the pair. Usually DeGeneres chooses homes that need work, but for all intents and purposes, the mid-century modern was already renovated by Pitt. Perhaps that’s why DeGeneres was so quickly disenchanted.
The Malibu home has 4,088 square feet of living space with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Set back from the Pacific Coast Highway behind private gates, the bluff-side home features walls of glass with sweeping views of the coastline, dark bamboo flooring and a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances and walk-in refrigerator and freezer.
So where will de Rossi and DeGeneres head now? They own a home in the Trousdale Estates area of Beverly Hills, a condo in Beverly Hills and an equestrian estate that’s currently on the market for $16.5 million.
