Get ready for the mack-daddy of red carpet events: “The Oscars®.” This year’s 83rd Academy Awards® will be broadcast live on Sunday, Feb. 27 (ABC,  8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST) from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, CA. Here’s a look at some of the homes of top Oscar nominees, where they might be planning their outfits and practicing their acceptance speeches all in preparation for Hollywood’s biggest night.

David Fincher

Best Director Nominee, “The Social Network”

He may not be a familiar face in the pipeline of celebrity news, but when it comes to what happens behind the scenes, film director, David Fincher is a star. Fincher is responsible for guiding some of America’s favorite actors in movies like “Seven,” “Fight Club,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” and most recently, and notably, “The Social Network.” He won the Golden Globe’s Best Director award  for his work on the Facebook-themed film, which won a total of 4 Golden Globe awards – the most wins of the night. As a Best Director nominee at the upcoming Academy Awards, Fincher has a chance to add an Oscar to his accolade collection, an honor few have attained within the same year. “The Social Network” is nominated for 7 other Academy awards including Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Picture.

When he isn’t getting his hands dirty in film direction  or production, Fincher relaxes at his 1-acre Mediterranean estate in Los Feliz, CA. Fincher bought into the Los Feliz real estate market in 1996, purchasing his 7,000-sq ft home for $3 million. Completely surrounded by tall trees, Fincher’s Los Feliz home features 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, a gorgeous courtyard perfect for entertaining, and a large, outdoor swimming pool bordered by gardens and manicured lawns. Jeff Bridges

Best Actor Nominee, “True Grit”

Though he was side-stepped by the Golden Globe nominating crew, Jeff Bridges‘ role in the action-packed Western, “True Grit” is bringing the actor his sixth Academy Award nomination. Last year, he won the Best Actor award for his performance in the 2009 flick “Crazy Heart.” In addition to Bridges’ Best Actor nomination, “True Grit” is nominated for nine other Academy Awards including Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, and Best Picture.

Bridges has been in the entertainment business since the 1950’s, dabbling in both the acting and music industries. When he’s not working, Mr. Big Lebowski retreats to his expansive Montecito estate (pictured above) that he shares with his wife and three children. With a main house that has over 8,500 sq ft and a lot that stretches over 19 acres, one can only imagine the fun the Bridges’ clan has in their spare time. Bridges’ impressive patch of Montecito real estate isn’t the only thing in his property portfolio. Public records indicate the 61-year-old actor also owns two properties in Livingston, MO. Amy Adams

Best Supporting Actress Nominee, “The Fighter”

Amy Adams has come far since her silver screen debut in the 1999 film, “Drop Dead Gorgeous.” She has since won the hearts of viewers and critics alike with such performances as Sister James in “Doubt,” Ashley Johnsten in “Junebug,” and her most recent role as Charlene Fleming in “The Fighter.” Her acclaimed performance opposite Mark Wahlberg in the “The Fighter” has been nominated for countless awards including her third Golden Globe nomination as well as her third Academy Award nomination.

Amidst a skyrocketing career, the Best Supporting Actress-nominee got engaged to her long-time boyfriend, Darren Le Gallo, in 2008 and she gave birth to their first daughter, Aviana Olea Le Gallo, in 2010. Quick to follow the new addition to the Gallo-Adams family was the purchase of a new home. According to The Real Estalker, Adams and her fiance picked out a secluded, 1-acre estate in the Los Angeles suburb of Beverly Glen. Despite the declining home values in the Beverly Glen real estate market (down 9.2 percent year-over-year according to Zillow Real Estate Market Reports), Adams and Le Gallo had to fight for the Briarcrest Lane pad. At the end of the day, Adams walked away a winner paying $3,165,000 for the cul-de-sac home – almost $500,000 over the original asking price of $2,695,000.

Adams’ Beverly Glen home (pictured above) is a modern, fully gated, Connecticut-style ranch house that was originally built in 1952 and completely renovated in 2005 (see virtual tour here). All of the rooms, with the exception of the master bedroom on the second floor, are all found on the first floor. The public spaces “flow beautifully through the dining, living, and family rooms,” making this a great space for a new family. Other features include 3 additional bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms,  high ceilings with beams and skylights, a huge gourmet kitchen, multiple decks, a gated pool and spa, fully gated dog kennel, cactus garden, and walking paths. Jeremy Renner

Best Supporting Actor Nominee, “The Town”

Jeremy Renner earned his first Academy Award nomination for his lead role in the 2009 Best Picture-winning film, “The Hurt Locker.” The Iraq War-based picture won 6 Oscars, but the “Best Actor” award, for which Renner was nominated, wasn’t one of them. Renner’s defeat perhaps fueled his fire to deliver another Oscar-worthy performance, which is exactly what he did. Renner is nominated in the “Best Supporting Actor” category for his role opposite Ben Affleck in the crime thriller, “The Town.”

Before making it on the big screen, the 40-year-old Oscar hopeful made a living flipping houses in the Los Angeles area with business partner, Kristoffer Winter. Apparently, the Los Angeles real estate market has been treating the property development team quite well; They have been buying, demolishing, rebuilding, and selling homes for over a decade.  A USA Today article about the multi-talented actor reports that rebuilding homes is “part hobby, part investment strategy, part desire on Renner’s part to do something tangible and concrete in an industry that’s generally the opposite.” One of his most recent projects was a restored 1924 Greek Revival in Hollywood Hills that sold for over $4 million in January 2010. He bought the property in 2008 for $1.55 million. He is currently living (and from the looks of pictures, also renovating) a traditional-style home in Hollywood, CA. Public records show Renner’s Hollywood home (pictured above) was purchased in June 2009 for $1.35 million. It sits on a .25-acre lot with multiple decks, 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 6,000 sq ft of living space. While the business of house flipping doesn’t allow Renner the luxury of having a permanent home, should he ever need a place to relax his family still lives in his hometown of Modesto, CA. Natalie Portman

Best Actress Nominee, “Black Swan”

After winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in the ballet-psycho-drama, “Black Swan,” actress Natalie Portman has been all the buzz in the entertainment industry. Her critically acclaimed and award-winning performance isn’t all to blame, though. Shortly after the release of the movie, the 29-year-old nominee announced she was not only engaged to “Black Swan” choreographer Benjamin Millepied, but also pregnant. Portman also followed up her technique-heavy ballet performance with a more light-hearted role opposite Ashton Kutcher in the romantic (adult) comedy, “No Strings Attached.”

Proving to be an amazingly versatile actress, Portman is set to conquer her next big challenge as a first-time mother. This will be unlike any role she has ever played, but at least she won’t have to worry about finding new digs to house her growing family. Portman’s Los Feliz home (pictured above) is a “rustic-castle-like” property that she purchased for $3.25 million in April 2009. The 1930s-era estate seemed to be a hot commodity in the Los Feliz real estate pool, resulting in Portman coughing up an extra $51,000 on top of the asking price to make it her own. Nestled on 18,000-sq ft of landscaped grounds, the unique property features a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom main house with gallery ceilings, wood floors, a private courtyard, swimming pool, and 2 separate guest houses. Previous owners include Dermot Mulroney and recently deceased sax player LeRoi Moore from the Dave Matthews Band. [Source: Los Angeles BlockShopper]

Michelle Williams

Best Actress Nominee, “Blue Valentine”

Michelle Williams first won us over on the teen drama series, “Dawson’s Creek.” She swept audiences and critics off their feet with her performance in the 2005 film “Brokeback Mountain,” for which she earned her first Academy Award nomination. Her role opposite Ryan Gosling in the romantic drama “Blue Valentine” caught critics’ eye this time around nabbing her both a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

Williams spends her time off the big screen with her 5-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose, in their cozy, 4-floor house in Brooklyn, NY (pictured above). Williams’ Brooklyn home was purchased with late actor and ex-fiance, Heath Ledger, in 2005 for a reported $3.6 million. Ledger, also Matilda’s father, passed away from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008. Despite rumors of moving, Williams adores her block of Brooklyn real estate and has shut down any circling hearsay of finding a new home for her and her daughter. [Source: GridSkipper]

Mark Wahlberg

Best Picture Nominee, “The Fighter”

Mark Wahlberg joins castmates Amy Adams and Christian Bale on the list of Academy Award nominees from the pro-boxer-inspired film “The Fighter.” He isn’t getting a Best Actor-nod like he did at the Golden Globes, but rather recognition for his role as a producer of the film, which has been nominated for Best Picture of the year.  The action-packed drama tells the story of boxer “Irish” Mickey Ward (Wahlberg) and his road to success. Wahlberg’s road to a successful portrayal of the boxer, who is also a close personal friend of Wahlberg’s, involved hardcore training for over 4 years. Luckily Wahlberg’s Beverly Hills compound includes a 2,500-sq ft workout facility with full boxing ring. Additionally, the 1.41-acre estate (pictured above) includes an 8,932-sq ft Mediterranean main house, a 2-story guest house, basketball court, putting green, and a lagoon-like swimming pool with a cabana, grotto, and waterfall.

Property records show that Mr. Marky Mark purchased the property for $4,950,000 in 2001. After a few years and a few millions, Wahlberg was ready to hand-off his Beverly Hills real estate gem, listing the custom, 4-building estate for $15.9 million in 2008. While there is no record of Wahlberg’s massive property selling, he already has plans for his next pad. According to Real Estalker, Wahlberg signed over $8,250,000 for one of the last parcels in the coveted area of Beverly Park. The 6+ acre lot was first listed for $18.9 million in 2008. Nicole Kidman

Best Actress Nominee, “The Rabbit Hole”

Honolulu-born actress, Nicole Kidman, has been busy on the red carpet circuit this season. She attended the 2011 Golden Globes as a Best Actress nominee, the 2011 Grammy Awards with Grammy-winning country singer and hubby, Keith Urban, and is gearing up for her third award ceremony appearance at the upcoming Academy Awards. Kidman is up for the Best Actress Award for her performance opposite Aaron Eckhart in the drama “Rabbit Hole.” Kidman’s memorable role as Virginia Woolf in the 2002 film, “The Hours,” gave her her first Best Actress Golden Globe and Academy Award.

Kidman’s husband, Keith Urban, has had an equally lucrative career on the music side of the entertainment business with several Billboard chart-topping hits and four Grammy Awards, the most recent being a win for Best Male Country Vocal Performance at this year’s Grammys. In addition to bringing home more awards, Kidman and Urban welcomed home their first child, Faith Margaret, at the end of last month. Urban and Kidman have beautiful homes on both sides of the country so it is hard to say where they will be planning on building their new family. What we do know is where they won’t be raising their first born.  In November 2010, Kidman put her 3,785-sq ft New York penthouse on the rental market for a whopping $45,000/month. Kidman’s rental (pictured above) has three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, offering stunning views of the Hudson River.

Since her condo is a rental, Kidman hasn’t completely cut New York real estate from her property portfolio, but her California and Tennessee homes are much more family friendly, to say the least. Urban and Kidman’s Beverly Hills home is a gorgeous, contemporary home in the celeb-packed neighborhood of Beverly Glen. The 4,000-sq ft home features a luxurious master suite with dual walk-in closets, 4 additional bedrooms, 4.25 bathrooms, a private outdoor pool with adjacent outdoor dining area and side-yard. The sale of the property also included the rare amenity of an additional portion of Beverly Glen real estate across the street from the main house that has yet to be developed. Only a few months before the celebrity couple dropped $4.7 million on their 90210 pad, they claimed a piece of Nashville real estate for $3.47 million. Urban and Kidman’s Nashville home is located in the Forest Hills community and boasts a whopping 12,000- sq ft house with 6 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. The 1-acre property also holds a huge outdoor swimming pool and full tennis court. [Source: The Real Estalker]

Annette Bening

Best Actress Nominee, “The Kids Are All Right”

Annette Bening earned her first Oscar nomination back in 1990 for her supporting role in “The Grifters.” A husband, 4 kids, 2 Golden Globe awards, and 3 more Oscar nominations later, Bening finds herself attending this year’s Academy Awards as a four-time Oscar nominee and is in the running for the “Best Actress” award for her lead role in “The Kids Are All Right.”

Bening has been married to fellow actor, Warren Beatty, since 1992. The couple have four children and reside in a massive estate in Beverly Hills, CA. Beatty and Bening’s Beverly Hills home is located on a private, tree-bordered acre of property that features a 6-bedroom, 8-bathroom main house with over 10,500 sq ft of living space. Records show Bening and Beatty can’t get enough of Beverly Hills real estate, or Mullholland Drive to be more specific. Public records show that Bening and Beatty have three additional properties on the same street, an 11-acre parcel north of Mulholland, and another 3.55-acre parcel one lot north of Mullholland. This brings their real estate trappings to a total of 24-acres in Los Angeles’ Sherman Oaks area. This could be a record. [Source: Big Time Listings]
