Celebrate the Holidays with CHC
During the winter holidays, donors, volunteers, and friends are often inspired to support CHC above and beyond with the giving spirit of the season. When they ask “how can I help?”, CHC invites them to support the Thanksgiving and Christmas activities.
The Bay Area and Los Angeles campuses celebrate Thanksgiving with events that feature talent shows, campus tours and resident and alumni speakers. Former residents and their families often return to visit with staff and friends. Participants who are new to the event often comment on the sense of community and celebration they witness at these events.
This year, CHC’s Thanksgiving Celebration will take place at 6PM on Monday, November 22nd at the Bay Area campus (click here to download a flier for the Bay Area event) and at 6PM on Tuesday, November 23rd at the Los Angeles campus (click here to dowload a flier for the Los Angeles event) CHC is encouraging supporters to become involved with this event by making a financial contribution or hosting a food drive for non-perishable goods that will feed homeless youth not only during the holidays, but year-round. CHC also invites volunteers to be a part of the Thanksgiving celebration by helping prepare food the weekend before the event, and serving food at the event itself.
In December, the Bay Area shelter also hosts a tree trimming event on Monday, December 20th. CHC also provides gift bags full of clothes, school supplies, and gift cards for all 125 of its residents. This is only possible because of generous donors who make financial or in-kind donations of gift certificates. Gifts are distributed on Christmas morning, when each shelter also hosts a brunch staffed by volunteers.
