Wolfgang Puck is the original celebrity chef. His first restaurant Spago opened in Los Angeles in 1982, and now he oversees about 20 Spago franchises. He's had shows on the Food Network and been an Iron Chef Master. He's the go-to cook for the Grammys and the Academy Awards. His children eat white truffles on their pizza.
We caught up with Wolfgang in New York City at the launch of his new line of soups, stocks and broths to get his professional opinion on how guys can entertain like celebrity chefs at home. It turns out that setting things on fire (our suggestion) and cutting vegetables in the air with a chef's knife (again, our suggestion) isn't the best way to impress guests. Like magic tricks and taxes, it's all about slight of hand and disposing of the evidence.
“Hide the can and say you did it all yourself,” he says. “You have to cheat a little; it's OK.”
