"The Dressmaker of Khair Khana"
at Carolina Hererra
Gayle Tzemach Lemmon, author of The New York Times' Best Seller, The Dressmaker of Khair Khana, partnered up with Vital Voices to present her book to some key local fashion influencers. Together, at the Carolina Herrera store in West Hollywood, attendees learned about the great journey Gayle took to learn about the stories of Afghan women and their dressmaking businesses, and how these business saved their lives in the toughest of time.

I was there to record the event and help spread the word about this chills-inducing tale. And snap attendee styles too, of course.

Walking up, I was greeted by two lovely young women in their own versions of the LBD.
Hot times call for cool colors.

This is a great way to do floral without being girly and whimsical. Want the look? Opt for a bold, untiled print.
Oh, sweet metal nature, how you are even better than usual with pearl studs.

Like fringe? See these shoes. The sweater helps to tie it all together, otherwise you've got two strong pieces that don't go together, as in, tall heels with layers of fringe and a lime green smock dress with big buttons down the back. Both are playful, but part of two separate games.
Left: Parisian style with the skirt's embroidered floral and accentuated sleeve and ruffels. I love Parisian. Delicate, but always makes a statement.
Right: The turquoise dress is a fun spring option, well paired with gold as it's more of an aqua or sea green shade. The white jacket is a great twist between menswear and naval wear. Notice the cut, how it keeps shape by cinching in the waist...this is a must for almost all women's jackets.
Left: This summer, it's all about the LWD. Hooray.
Right: Studly, long skirt with lush fabric. Don't do this look while you're still single.

I just wanted to thank the pleasant beverage servers, not only for offering champaign and offering smiles,  but for choosing the right color of hairband. SEE, always match hairband to hair color.
Right: A great pant, high-waisted, wide-leg trouser. Paired with a fun top to contrast the clean lines of the pant. Just eye-catching, no?

Yep, this really happened. They belong to the man below (left.) Just fantastic.
Left: Pairing a pink of salmon or pink with a gray is a good choice for summer and fall.
Right: Excited about white pants season, are we? I am too.

Oh, and that envelope clutch, it's short-haired. Just thought you'd like to know/ appreciate that.
Left: Were it not for the fun color, this dress would have been too old for this pretty young woman. You're young...have fun with it while you still can. Accessories or hardware would have helped.

Time for speeches. Above, from Vital Voices, introducing Gayle.

Gayle speaking to the attendees. And in the mirror, attendees captivated and listening.

A regal pairing, of gold and purple.
