Each year we wait with bated breath to see who topped Forbes’ list of highest paid celebrities. Okay, maybe not. We do, however, enjoy perusing the list and cross-referencing with celebrity listings on the Realtor.com blogs to see where the top dogs live.
This year’s biggest earners have some amazing crash pads to call home, but with a yearly salary over $50 million is that any surprise? Here’s a look at some of the amazing houses these stars have recently unloaded.
Oprah Winfrey
The former queen of daytime time television is now keeping her days filled with Kardashian sit-downs, pop star-guided tours of Barbados and more. Raking in $165 million from May 2011 to May 2012, Oprah is bound to have fabulous real estate across the world. She recently sold her Chicago condo giving us a glimpse into her world.
Michael Bay
As the top-earning director on the list with $160 million, life is good for Michael Bay. The Transformers films were very lucrative for Bay, not only at the box office but also with action figures and a new ride at Universal Studios. The Montecito, CA, home he sold in May is fitting for the star with a modern feel and ocean views. The home was originally listed for $6.9 million, but sold for $2 million less.
Britney Spears
The newest comeback kid of entertainment, Britney Spears, reappeared on the list earning $58 million from May 2011 to May 2012. With a new record, man and show, Britney definitely cleaned house and started fresh this year. The Beverly Hills home she purchased in 2007 was part of the “toss pile” as she sold it in May. The home was listed for only a fraction of what she paid for it, but we think she’ll be just fine.
Dr. Phil
Not only was Oprah leading the list of top-earners, but she also had a prodigy on the list in Dr. Phil McGraw. Earning $64 million, television’s favorite psychologist has bought and sold numerous properties in the last few years. Recently he’s listed three homes in the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles areas. He sold this 11,036 square foot Mediterranean-style villa in 2011.
