Elijah Wood Selling Santa Monica Home
Best known for his portrayal of Frodo in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, Elijah Wood’s home in Santa Monica is notably unhobbit-like.
Wood’s house was listed on the Santa Monica real estate market recently for $1,850,000 according to the L.A. Times. Although the three-bedroom, two-bath home is relatively small in celebrity circles at 2,130 square feet, median Santa Monica home values are high at $808,400.
Wood purchased the home from fellow actor Dylan McDermott for $1.45 million in 1999. At the time, Wood was primarily known as a child actor, starring in films like “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” and a film remake of “Flipper.” He would star in the first “Lord of the Rings” movie in 2001, launching him into stardom. He is currently starring in the TV series “Wilfred” and filming “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” according to IMDb.com.
The Santa Monica home is a classic 1920s Spanish-style bungalow with a wood-burning fireplace and hardwood floors as well as a Victorian-style front door and British brewery cast iron tiles in the foyer. Coved walls, a circular tower front entry and French doors add to the home’s overall 1920′s feel. The house’s layout includes a large living room, dining room, large den, and additional office. Outside, there is a one-bed, one-bath guest house. Another office space is attached to a two-car garage.
Although the home is charming, the listing notes that the home may need remodeling or updating.
Agent Roya Kianmahd of Keller Williams Realty holds the listing.
