Owning a big luxurious home is everybody’s dream. However, to have that wonderful mansion in Paris – one of the world’s exclusive places to dwell in – would be an icing on the cake for sure. Although most of the world’s expensive properties sit in posh cites, like London, Tokyo and New York, however, according to a new research, France is becoming a hot spot for property buyers for being one of the most expensive non-urban locations in the world. As CNBC reveals it, Paris is among the world’s most expensive real estate list with the approx. price of land reading somewhere around $2100 per sq. ft.

1.La Leopolda Villa

Price: $545 Million

The world’s most expensive property, the La Leopolda Villa is situated in the French town of Villefranche-sur-Mer on the French Riviera, and is the world’s most expensive mansion. The mansion currently belongs to Lily Safra. The property has been in new for its buyers at many instances, including Russian billionaire Prokhorov, who has made a €39 million down payment to Lily Safra in 2008. The Russian billionaire has reportedly paid an additional €1.5 million of interest to Lily Safra, who further donated the entire sum to a number of charity institutions. The alleged celebrity buyer list also includes Roman Abramovich and Bill Gates. The later was rumored to have paid a sum in excess of $76 million. The villa flourishes with some 20 acres of gardens, and was originally built by King Leopold II of Belgium for his mistress Blanche Zélia Joséphine Delacroix. The villa requires 50 full-time gardeners to look after the estate, which includes 1200 olive, orange, lemon and cypress trees, and is in vicinity of Microsoft co-founder Paul’s Allens Maryland Villa.

2. La Belle Epoque

Price: $340 million

According to the Wealthy Report 2011, Monaco remains to be one of the world’s most expensive residential locations. Monaco’s largest property deal included the acquisition of La Belle Epoque, a 17,500 square foot penthouse. An unnamed Middle Eastern investor bought it for 240 Euros ($340 million). This penthouse has two floors of block flats, and each suit has its own cinema, kitchen, dressing room and two bathrooms. The lavish house also has a spa, library and its own gardens.

3. Chateau Mirval

With celebrities buying properties all over the world, France remains to be one of the favorite of the rich and the famous. Recently, famous celeb couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bought a new French chateau estate in the South of France. This French Riviera consists of 35-bedrooms, is surrounded by a moat, has its own lake, and costs $58 Million.
