California girl Jennifer Aniston is putting her beloved “Ohana” estate in Beverly Hills up for sale, but you won’t find it on Zillow or anywhere else because, as Forbes’ Morgan Brennan writes, “The property is being kept under tight wraps.”
Aniston’s Beverly Hills real estate beauty is a pocket listing, which is a favorite tactic of celebrities so the home isn’t accessed by voyeurs, and it also helps the real estate broker screen potential buyers.
Aniston’s home was a therapeutic endeavor of sorts. She bought it in November 2006 for $13.5 million — about a year after her well-publicized breakup with Brad Pitt. She then hired designer, Stephen Shadley and sank two and a half years of her heart and soul into renovating the mid-century modern property, which was originally done by architect-to-the-stars Harold W. Levitt in 1970 (that’s a bird’s-eye view of the home above during its renovation).
She added square footage to the home and basically tore it apart to make it energy efficient and secure. For example, according to Forbes, the “…home’s wine cellar is engulfed in a biometric security system, meaning only Aniston’s unique fingerprint ID can pop the lock. The same goes for her built-in jewelry cabinet.”
Located in the elite Trousdale Estates neighborhood of Beverly Hills (that’s where Elvis Presley’s former home is for rent), Aniston’s 10,000-sq ft home is typical indoor-outdoor California living with large, open rooms and soaring ceilings to “foster a sense of freedom,” according to Aniston’s listing agent, Jade Mills.
Features include:
- 5 bedrooms, 7.5 baths
- Master suite with dual baths
- 3 additional bedrooms each with their own en-suite baths
- Smart technology
- Gourmet chef’s kitchen, a prep and catering kitchen
- Family room
- Rosewood paneled formal living room
- Secondary living room with a wet bar
- Japanese Ofuro tub as well as a sunken spa tub, steam shower
- Outdoor living room with fireplaces and kitchen
- Staff room
- Gym
- 3-car garage and motor court
As Beverly Hills real estate goes, Aniston’s home is certainly the crème de la crème within the highly select 90210 surroundings. But, why is she selling? Aniston appeared on Good Morning America recently and let it drop that she wants to come back to New York City (where she was raised) and has been reportedly looking at a New York penthouse. We’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime, take a look at Forbes’ exclusive interior shots of Aniston’s home, or you can check out the listing on Jade Mills’ site — it’s under “Beverly Hills Celebrity Retreat, North of Sunset – $42 million.” [Additional sources: Big Time Listings, Iamnotastalker.com]
