While tied with Katharine Hepburn for most Academy Award wins, Jack Nicholson stands alone as the most-nominated male actor in Academy Awards history with 12 total nominations. Nicholson’s rise to fame began with starring roles in films like “Easy Rider,” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” and “The Shining.” He has since done little to pump the breaks with acting, continuously delivering noteworthy performances in the latter half of his life as seen with his award-winning roles in films like “Something’s Gotta Give” and “The Departed.” As the decorated actor enters the sixth decade of his career, it doesn’t seem like he’s getting tired of the entertainment biz. There is, however, something he is getting tired of — his 70-acre estate in Malibu, CA.
Nicholson, 73, hoisted his 2-home property onto the Malibu real estate market last week with an asking price of $4.25 million. The expansive, private retreat includes a ranch-style main house, separate caretaker’s home, lighted tennis court, putting green, swimming pool, and grotto-style spa. The main house, which was built in 1966, consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, additional maid’s quarters, over 2,300-sq ft of living space, and beautiful mountain and ocean views.
Unloading his Malibu property will leave Nicholson far from homeless. Public records show he also owns a 4-lot compound in Beverly Hills (perhaps resulting in his nickname “Mulholland Man“), a 2-bedroom Los Angeles home in Cahuenga Pass, three properties in Aspen, CO, and a 5-bedroom retreat in Kailua, HI.
