Have $40,000 a month in spare change? Check out Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s beachfront Malibu home, which was just listed for rent. Although the Osbournes have owned this piece of Malibu real estate since 2003, it was not the location of their reality TV show, “The Osbournes.” That home was a Beverly Hills estate they sold in 2007 to singer Christina Aguilera for $11.5 million; Aguilera is currently trying to unload it for $13.5 million.
The Osbournes’ tri-level, 5-bed, 5-bath house sits right on La Costa Beach with Pacific Highway to the east and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean to the west. Sitting between other million dollar homes, this Malibu rental fits in with most of the area’s real estate; presently, Malibu home values hit a median of $1,547,100.
The 2,984-sq ft home was once listed for sale for $10,995,000 in 2007. With no buyers, it was de-listed in 2008. We wrote about it last July when it was listed for rent at the same whopping price of $40,000 per month before the listing was removed again.
Built in 1955, the house promises ultimate privacy as well as luxurious amenities such as a gourmet kitchen, wood-paneled library, and enormous master suite complete with fireplace, walk-in closet and marble bath. Apparently, the master suite runs the “entire ocean side of the second floor.” The home also includes a gated garden, several terraces and hot tub.
Unlike the Osbournes’ former Beverly Hills estate, which was known for its eccentric decor, this single-family home contains none of the quirkiness you’d expect. Rather, the majority of the home is outfitted in neutral colors with classic beach-inspired accents.
The home is being listed for rent by Jonah Wilson of Sotheby’s International Realty.
