The Roosevelt's Newest Guest
Going Public in historic Hollywood

Beyond hosting the first-ever Oscars and all those urban myths of haunting, the Roosevelt Hotel now hosts Public Kitchen & Bar, a new brasserie style eatery worth haunting itself.

You needn’t impress a bouncer to get in, but spying Angelina Jolie glide briefly across the dining room is proof you’re in the mix. (We saw her there on our visit — no truth to the rumor that she's stalking us. Again.)

Set up camp for your crew on the leather banquettes and get comfortable. It's a big brasserie, and despite the Roaring '20s look, its acoustics are surprisingly mellow.

Old photos remind you that Gable, Lombard, and their cronies came before you.

The menu’s homey, with split pea soup, ricotta gnudi (think dumplings), and beef brisket pot roast. (Still the best thing here is the burger from the same chef behind the hotel’s 25 Degrees)

After dinner, grab a cocktail from the white marble bar, then continue your evening's romp through the Hollywood Circuit scene — or make your own.
